CC-Mini^ (quantities available)

$297

The Cripple Creek Mini (CC-Mini) Is just like the phenomenally popular CC-100, only smaller. The same maple neck (but tuned to C, like the fifth fret of a full-sized banjo) and hard rock maple rim (but just eight inches in diameter) make the Mini a perfect travel banjo or the ideal child's instrument for the young picker.

Dulciborn*

$444.5

Gold Tone co-owner Robyn Rogers is a gifted Appalachian dulcimer player. She wanted to offer her fellow strummers something unique: a mountain dulcimer that could hold its own with the other instruments in a playing session. Robyn and Wayne Rogers looked to Gold Tone's Weissenborn guitar as a possible platform upon which to build this totally new kind of dulcimer. Thus, the Dulciborn was born! The huge air chamber of the Weissenborn's design includes the neck of the instrument, which is hollow. Because of the light string pull common to dulcimers, the braces under the Dulciborn's solid spruce top could be lightened to increase the sensitivity and volume of the instrument and the pin-type bridge energizes the top more vigorously. As a result, the Gold Tone Dulciborn is louder and has better bass response than any conventional hourglass-shaped cherry wood or mahogany dulcimer. Even if you already own an Appalachian dulcimer, you need a Dulciborn!

BG-Mini^ (quantities available)

$629.99

If you teach banjo to kids, or have a child that REALLY wants to get serious about the five-string banjo, you are faced with a problem. Your eight- or ten-year-old is crazy talented, but playing a banjo that's bigger than he or she is can be a hurdle that's very hard to manage. You've perhaps gone the route of the bargain banjo; it's still full-sized and maybe it didn't play or sound that terrific, either. If you want to encourage a little picker, the Gold Tone BG-Mini is the only way to go. The Mini is a for-real, actual Bluegrass banjo that's been scaled down in size to provide pint-sized pickers with a professional-grade banjo. Its design echoes that of Gold Tone's BG-250F and features an eight-inch diameter head sitting on a rolled-brass rod tone ring, a two-way adjustable truss rod, bone nut, planetary tuners, geared fifth-string peg, and a complete pro setup in Gold Tone's Florida shop. The BG-Mini is tuned to open C (like the fifth fret of a standard banjo). This is NOT a novelt

$549.99

The Mandola, often used in Celtic traditional music, is to the mandolin what the viola is to the violin. The four double courses of strings are usually tuned in fifths to CGDA, a fifth lower than a mandolin, but many other tunings may be used. Our Mandola features authentic Celtic tone and low, comfortable playing action. The cast brass tailpiece is stronger and thicker than sheet metal tailpieces, providing more sustain. This traditionally shaped and finished mandola will complement the sound of any acoustic ensemble.
