José Ramírez C86 CWE Cutaway Handcrafted Guitar

The C86 CWE Cutaway is a handcrafted, first-class guitar developed by José Ramírez IV in collaboration with his father, José Ramírez III. Ramírez IV wanted to build the first Spanish guitar with a cutaway for a different style of music and also wanted to be able to provide musicians an instrument that could be electrified. The two came up with this guitar, the C86 CWE, which features the same template as the standard C86, itself coming to be known as the Tradicional Classical Guitar, but with that all-important cutaway and other changes to its design.

The C86 CWE maintains many characteristics of the Spanish guitar, and adds to its special sound with the sweetness of nylon strings. This guitar was built to prioritize the comfort and needs of the guitarists who would be playing it, and as a result it is a well-balanced instrument that offers a wide variety of tones and nuance to its playing.

Tunisian-born French virtuoso guitarist Marcel Dadí contributed his opinions and assisted in the design of the C86 CWE until a guitar that fully satisfied him was created. The first "C86 CWE Marcel Dadí" guitar was built for the man himself, and the collaboration between Dadí and the José Ramírez family lasted until the guitarist's untimely death in an airplane accident in 1996. The C86 CWE continues to be an important marker for guitarists like Dadí, and his contributions to this instrument are not forgotten.
