The José Ramírez Tradicional Classical Guitar is more than just a musical instrument; it’s a piece of history and a testament to evolution in design and materials. This first-class instrument, handcrafted with a cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and double cypress, is made from wood that has been naturally dried for at least 20 years from a private reserve. The Tradicional model was first produced by José Ramírez III in 1960 in collaboration with several notable classical guitarists, including the legendary Andrés Segovia. Segovia, acclaimed as the foremost guitarist of his time, played this model exclusively until his death. The Tradicional is considered an evolutionary model. It was one of the first guitars to popularize nylon strings instead of catgut, a change made in response to the instability of gut strings, which react to heat and humidity - Classical guitar technique emphasizes clarity, note separation, and independence of voices within a chord shape. Many classical guitarists prefer notes with a strong, impulsive attack and relatively modest sustain. The Tradicional, like all good classical guitars, has evolved to emphasize these traits.
