José Ramírez Tradicional Classical Handcrafted Guitar

The Tradicional Classical Guitar is our handmade flagship guitar, crafted with incredible woods and a keen eye for details. The Tradicional Classical starts with woods that have spent between 20 and 70 years drying out naturally which increases their stability and enriches the sound quality of the instrument. From there we begin the painstaking process of handcrafting the body, neck, and every other small detail of this instrument so it can be played and enjoyed for decades to come.

The Tradicional Classical Guitar is a masterpiece of Spanish luthiery first introduced in 1960 by José Ramírez III in collaboration with legendary guitarists like Andres Segovia. Segovia used this guitar model through the last years of his career, and it has continued to be a favored guitar of many classical guitar players. This instrument represents an evolution in classical guitar design. The Tradicional can be ordered with a solid spruce top if that is preferred over the standard solid cedar top. The back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood with a double inside made of cypress. A variety of customization options including different woods for the back and sides, 6-, 8-, or 10-string variants, and more are available upon ordering a Tradicional Classical Guitar.

These guitars are a piece of history and a testament to the design evolution of every instrument bearing the José Ramírez name. The Tradicional was one of the first guitars to popularize the use of nylon strings instead of gut strings. This change was done as gut strings react more strongly to heat and humidity which causes them to lose their clarity and precision in warmer and more humid environments.

These guitars include a handmade Manzano case with the José Ramírez logo.
